The only psychiatrist in the area that took my insurance moved away. The nearest one is out of my county (about 3hr drive away).
My doctor won't prescribe me the major depression/anxiety meds (Effexor/Venlafaxine) that literally saved my life the past few years unless I get a monthly visit to a psych. She said it's out of her hands.
Any advice on what to do? I've tried looking online but the sites either seem sketchy or still require a script. My doctor didn't even prescribe lower doses, just pulled me off full-stop and things are already becoming unbearable and the side-effects are fucking with me hard. I can't think of anything else to do.
Is this Burgerland? I've been having the same issues too, except I just haven't been able to find a therapist, period. I ended up having to get my meds from my primary, and I had to switch primaries because my old one just told me to look for a therapist and NONE of them take state insurance. I was just turned away by one office because I told them I have problems with alcohol, they want me to see a drug counselor instead. I want to talk to someone that went to med school in THIS country ... I'm worried it's just going to be a burnt out ex addict that is barely qualified enough to do much more than tell me to get a job.
