I'm working a temporary job, but they're creating permanent positions for us soon. However, where I'm working at the moment is not going to help my career move in the direction that I want it to go in, so I've been sending out my CV to other companies. A couple have responded saying that they're interested, but they're currently in the process of reviewing their situations and they'll get back to me in a couple of weeks.
The problem is this: the confirmation of the permanent positions is likely to happen before these other places get back to me about vacancies. And even if there is a vacancy, there's no guarantee that I'll get the job. On the other hand, I don't want to be working where I am right now for much longer, and I feel like if I did take a permanent position, I'd be stuck there for at least 1 year (but more likely longer) which would really set me back from where I want to be.
What do I do? Do I take the permanent position where I am for security and then jump ship if something else comes up? How shitty would I look for doing that?
Bump?
