How do I know if I'm mentally insane?

For the past year I've been obsessed with a goal that I have in mind, but it's so ambitious and different than everything else I've been doing so far yet I can't keep it out of my head. The problem with it is that I can't really explain it in detail because:

1. afraid someone will steal my idea
2. I have ALMOST the whole picture in my head, except the key fragment of it, which eludes me
3. it would almost certainly seem crazy

I keep thinking about what is it that I'm missing and it's driving me insane

Would better education in a specific field get you closer to the answer? Maybe you cannot figure it out because you actually do not have the brain tools with which to do so.

I mean, to some extent most innovators would or were considered crazy to one extent or another.. up to you to decide if you can make it happen or if you should explore ways to break the obsession
