Has anyone ever replaced an air conditioner compressor? I don't know how to do it myself, so I'm thinking of hiring a technician to come do it. But when you factor in the combined costs of parts and labor, would it be cheaper to just buy a new unit?

Car or central for a house? Neither are very complicated but it's more difficult to get the refrigerant for a house without a license depending on your local laws. On either, disconnecting the compressor lines will vent your refrigerant
