So I used to be on ADHD medication. Middle school through high school. Diagnosed by a psychiatrist.
I had a change in career and now I actually have to try to get things done instead of just coasting. So I want to get back on that train, because those symptoms are hitting me hard.
What are the chances a general practitioner will prescribe me something? The $200+/hr of a psychiatrist isn't covered by my insurance and I'm pretty broke right now.

If you go to a guy you have never seen before, bring some kind of evidence or if none, just tell him your medical history, he'll most likely prescribe you something right there or refer you to a psychologist to confirm you have ADHD.
I merely asked the doc if he thought I had ADD and he said "maybe, we'll try some meds to see if they help"
bingo bango. Done and done.
