>the guy who hit it gave me his insurance info
>everything going swell for having a just-damaged car
>go through all the insurance things
>actually, not all of them
>dad (who was/is a mechanic) tells me to instead request a check from the insurance company, then use that money to fix the car ourselves
>call them back later, the guy never says anything about that, I have to just pick a mechanic shop and that the shop has to fix it
>I don't press the issue on the phone
Now it's been 3 weeks, I haven't picked a bodyshop, cause I have to somehow get a fucking check from them instead. How long can I wait? I seriously fucking hate this, my car looks horrible and when I drive it seems like people are gonna think I got in the accident myself, when I wasn't even in my car at the time of the accident.

I don't even know what to do anymore. I just feel overwhelmed, I don't know how to make the insurance guy give the "ok" for a check on this. I just want my fucking door fixed, I don't give a god damn fuck about pocketing an extra $500 or any amount. I wish my car never got it.

It's been 3 weeks now since the insurance guy last called to ask if I picked a shop yet.
