Why is there stigma attached to wanting to work as a shop assistant at a supermarket after doing a bachelor degree I found boring? I love serving customers and stocking the shelves at a supermarket.

Idealization of career being tied to passion.

I'm like you, I enjoy workiing and helping others. People say what they do because they feel miserable doing those things and think everyone must feel the same or else something is wrong.

Not everyone can do STEM or law and I would rather be served by someone who enjoys their job than someone who hates it and is just using it as a stepping stone or college fund.

Cos you got the opportunity to do something better than a wageslave?

I mean, the sheer amount of shitty people both customers and staff everyday at work is soul-crushing.

Enjoying retail and being capable of doing a law or STEM degree are not mutually exclusive. I finished a science degree but I hated it. Found out what truly makes me happy is serving customers.

Because its not a "real" job. Real in this case just means sustainable, livable; whatever.

Just work there anyway, it doesn't really matter. I worked at Burger King last year, and although I did not like my higher ups, I did enjoy working there. When I was left on my own I worked very well, things got done on time, and it was organized. Yes, you get difficult customers, and the cooks in the back don't know what the fuck they are doing because they HATE being there, but it really wasn't that bad of a job.

I wish more employees in all service fields would still CARE despite HATING being there. Not giving a single fuck is the sole reason you gotta wait 5 minutes for a fucking french fry. If they gave half a fuck, you'd get it instantly. Nothing we do is that difficult or pressing.

As >>18448770 said, you'd rather be served by someone who enjoys their job than someone who hates it. I was there for the money, obviously, but I still enjoyed being there. Does this make me less or a person, or someone who just wants to serve? I don't really think so.

>youre inhenerently worth less because your skill set is easily attainable and theres a large supply so youre replaceable
>youre not making as much thus consuming less which most people find usual
>not paying higher income taxes and property taxes on pressumed home purchase with higher income

I'm in the same position as you. I work security and fucking love my job even though I have a bachelors and was sitting for professional exams.

Anyways just chill for a bit, capitalism is going to cave in on itself within a decade anyways.

I can look past the shitty customers and staff in order to find joy in what I do. The only problem is I can't find a full time cashier job. I make more difference being an amazing cashier than anything I've ever done in a lab.

Pic related is from a subject I studied (transfusion) which I found boring. Most of the theory in that subject is irrelevant stuff most people forget unless they work in a transfusion lab.

God I fucking hate working in web development, I hate having to socialize with these cunts in an open office. Fucking hell I'd rather stack shelves if it had better job security
