If you'reliving in a civilizedplace you could probably just go to a bakery shortly before closure and explain your situation and ask if they have old bread from the day before which would otherwise goo into the trash.

Pro Tipp: Next time buy enough cheap spaghettis, concentrated tomato paste and some dry herbs/ cheese for 2 weeks worth of meals and store them away for such days. It's under 10€ investment for every emergency. Boil noodles, add, water to tomato paste, let biol up, add herbs and stuff and you have a good meal. Add cooking oil if you need to add more calories. You might also want to add some Vit pills (those with which you can make some soda).

Also, keep a glass with pennies somewhere. It will not be worth the trouble to change it in good times but in the worst case you can exchange some dollars to buy food with them.
