is it rude to walk into people's home without ringing or knocking first?
note: i only do that with best friends and family and they have never said they don't like it. i have scared a few people that way, though.

It is rude. It is not your house.
>i have scared a few people that way, though
Why do you think it is not rude?

because often we have made plans to meet up before, so they know that i'm coming.

yeah, it's an invasion of personal space without permission. even if you were supposed to be there.

It's rude so don't do it unless the people have told you not to knock and come in.
Yes, it's rude. Let them tell you the door is unlocked or to walk in unannounced

Because you knock before entering a door. A public bathroom with one toilet, your sibling's bedroom, your boss' office. Even if the person knows you and likes you, knock yo.
