Really hope I'm just overreacting to a car incident I just had

>trash day
>dead end street
>trash can directly in front of my car
>two more to like 3 oclock and 1 o clock
>decide its best to back up some 50 feet
>hear scratching and stop car
>neighbors trash can from behind me on side of car
>its a very busted up trash can like pic related
>apparently he left it hugging the curb
>i didnt back into it but more it scratched the side of my car

Then knocking on his door about a nonissue where he isn't required to do anything may also upset him.
Huge chance he doesn't listen to what you actually say and yells it's not his fault you messed up your car and didn't look before backing up.
