How do I reset my ability to fall asleep? I've recwntly quit smoking weed. One of the main reasons I smoked was so I could sleep better, but now that I've quit, it takes me at least 3 hours to fall asleep.

Is there an easy way to get back to how it wad before I started smoking, apart from waiting?

same problem man
>>
good on you with not smoking weed anymore. no, you're gonna have to wait.

now can someone answer me this, how do I fix my ability to fall asleep after I started liking this girl and since then I literally just can't get comfortable or get to sleep easily.
>>
>>18393855

Do something really repetitive before going to sleep. That usually helps me as my mind keeps thinking it's doing that repetitive thing.
>>
>>18393828
Read boring ass books - also if you can't sleep don't try it will just frustrate you.

But I've got work in the morning
>>
>>18394281
When I absolutely need the rest because of work and a book has not worked. I practice slow deep breathing. Even if I don't get to sleep I'm relaxed and the extra oxygen helps to recharge the batteries.

A shot of hard alcohol. I've had major sleep problems my whole life and some Vodka right before bed when I'm hyper is extremely helpful.
>>
Exercise regularly. If you burn enough energy during a workout, you will have no problem falling asleep at your discretion.
Lazy people will offer you easier solutions that may not even work. Exercise is the healthiest and most effective solution, and it is also the solution with the most added benefits besides improved sleep.

>OP stops using drugs
>asks how he can recover from the effects caused by discontinuing his drug use
>recommend him more drugs
At least this solution would offer consistency, I certainly can't fault you for that.

A little alcohol before bed is different than a smoking habit.
>>
>>18394453
Alcohol also reduces sleep duration and quality. So using it for the sleepiness it induces is counterproductive when it comes to sleeping better overall.
>>
>>18394490

I think you're reading too many magazines. That sounds like a load of bull. If you take the right amount at the right time it's extremely pleasant and you sleep just like you would normally.

Insomnia is not well understood by people who don't have it. You should talk to a specialist and avoid Benzodiazepines which disrupt sleep quality, makes you addicted.
The sleep specialized doctor is the only one that knows what to do in your situation, and can orient you to simple and efficacious therapies.

>assume that somebody who has previously had a drug habit on one drug will not develop a drug habit from another drug

I don't know why you're bringing up taxation. My argument was in terms of quantity only. If you take a shot once a week to help you sleep that's not the same as blazing it every day until your eyes turn pink.

If he's prone to getting addicted to alcohol then just try something else. It's still worth a try though.

I want a solution, not a replacement. Not saying that there is a solution, apart from waiting.

>>18394457
I do exercise. I hit the gym at least twice a week, doing the 5-3-1 powerlifting routine. I do feel more tired on the days that I'm at the gym, but then when I hit the bed, and lay there for about an hour, I don't feel that tired anymore and I'm back where I was.

Am I not working out hard enough?

>I do feel more tired on the days I go to the gym
Then you know that whoever posted that it is right.

>Am I not working out hard enough?
While it would be better to work out more than twice a week if possible, your biggest problem may be a lack of variety in your workout routine. Cardio exercise is probably the best thing you could add to your routine if you're specifically looking to feel sleepy after a workout.

Is right*
>>
>>18394610
I wish I could find more time to go more often (or better put, more motivation). I'll add cardio to my workout, although it's apparently not too good for powerlifters/gaining muscle.

Thanks.

Not meme-ing here, this guided meditation stuff is actually great. I listened to a few of these videos and now I can guide myself to sleep whenever I want. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8_a7hZmGm8

You gotta ween off that shit you can't cold turkey it's too hard. So every day you snoke less and later until it's almost like you don't smoke
>>
>>18394798
I cant. If i have weed at home, I'll smoke.. I have 0 self control
>>
>>18394497
I could say the same to you. That sounds like some equally dubious home remedy. I guess your default attitude toward alcohol is generally optimistic? As a /fit/izen I'm generally extremely skeptical about any and every kind of substance claimed to have beneficial effects as there's a huge number of different fitness and nutrition related supplements in existence and almost every single one of them does nothing at all. Alcohol is mostly harmful so my initial guess regarding anything it does is that it's not good.
>>
>>18393828
Insomnia is a side effect of weed withdrawal. After a couple of days to a week you should be back to normal. Maybe try benadryl in the meantime? It's not supposed to be physically addictive and a week wouldn't be long enough to get mentally addicted.
>>
Don't eat less than three hours before bed
Exercise during the day
Turn off all blue light (tv, computer, phone, lamps, etc) at least 30 mins before bed
Read a book in bed

If all else fails, try taking liquid melatonin.
