Honestly, something I grew out of with age, once you get fucking burned by a rejection you learn to not get so attached. I suppose it's partly an attitude too though.

It's a learning experience, best thing you can do is just make a play for the girl and either get rejected and learn or get her and be happy. Don't pine after her for years, that's a waste of time.
