Think of it this way:

How much thought do you put into the actions and behaviors of random people on the street? The vast majority doesn't even register with you. For the ones that really stick out, you might notice it and within 10 minutes completely have forgotten about that person.

That's what everyone does. No one could give less of a shit what you do unless you go out of your way to interact with people and make them notice you. Even then that's somewhat difficult to achieve. Making a lasting impression on someone isn't something you will accidentally do.

Don't worry anon, I had a problem with the same thing.

1. Realize how fucking weird people are. You think you look odd standing in a queue in the store? Look at that guy who makes weird hand movements. Or that woman who constantly scratches her back. Sometimes people do really retarded things in public but you don't even notice, because they seem completely natural.

2. Just act confident. It's not about feeling confident, it's about acting that way. I'm not the best looking guy around, but I decided that everytime I make eye contact with a girl on a street and she doesn't look away I smirk a tiny little bit. Don't overdo it though, it can look really fucking creepy if you actually smile.

3. Instead of trying to act "normal" act how you want. Walk in a way that you think looks cool. I don't mean "walk like a fucking anime character", I mean don't try to make every step perfect and never try to walk like other people. If you're reading some book in public or looking at your phone and somebody's staring at you look at them and smile. Be expressive.

4. If you seriously can't stand eye contact while walking, buy sunglasses that make your eyes invisible. Wear them and stare at everyone. Don't worry, they can't see your eyes, they're just looking at your shades. When you get more comfortable stop wearing them.

5. And again, please, don't try to be "normal". I guarantee you, you'll appear more "normal" if you'll stop pretending.

The way I eventually got over my social anxiety was by realizing that nothing matters. Everything/ everyone you have ever known or will ever know is on a float piece of dust going around a flaming ball of fire. The universe doesnt notice you and it never will. Then my soul died and i stopped caring what people think because they are completely meaningless in the grand scheme of things.

Funny thing is, I lived in another country for a while and had no problem being myself in public and doing as I pleased.

Just gotta realize that people in this country aren't as perfect as I think they are.

When I was 17 I moved to a different country. I was thrown into highschool with no previous experience with the culture. Also I didn't know the language at all. All the friends I managed to make spoke in english, so I didn't really spend that much time with people from my school and I was scared that I'm never going to feel good in this country.

I felt really stressed out, but I realized that trying to mimic other people's behavior isn't going to do me any good.

I started to appreciate my culture and language. Soon I wasn't scared of speaking and completely accepted my accent.
