I'm 23 and just moved into a place all on my own (no roommates). It's a bachelor pad with a shared washroom/washer and dryer. The place looked okay at first, and I signed a six month lease. After I moved in, though, things became clearer.
I have a son who is almost 2 years old. I was told when I signed the lease this place would be suitable for kids. Turns out, there's a schizo living in the apartment right next to mine and a crackhead bongo artist upstairs. Neither one of them follows the no smoking inside rule. The schizo just got out of the psych ward after 4 months. He sits in his apartment with the door open and mutters to himself in different voices and giggles. It's creepy. Obviously I can't bring my son here.
The shares bathroom was also a mess when I signed, but I was told the tenants would clean it before Io ed in. Surprise, never happened.
The night I moved in and all of this became clear to me I immediately asked for my money back so I could leave. I knew it was breaking lease but under these circumstances I wasn't sure what else to do. After pulling teeth, I managed to get my deposit back, and the landlord promised he'd give me the remainder of the rent once they found a new tenant.
Problem is I need the money I have them in order to afford a new place ASAP. I know I lucked out getting the damage deposit back but this place is not at all what was promised to me. I posted an ad myself and have gotten more responses than the landlord has, and showed the place to a couple of people already. Unlike the landlords I actually cleaned the place and made it somewhat presentable. However I'd much rather just get my money back and be on my way. I've only been here three days. Is there any way to go about this?
I know I'm a retard but I have very little experience in all this.

I really recommend it, I set up a meeting with my roommate off craigslist and we hung out for a bit and learned about eachother before committing to it. A+ experience as long as you find the right person.

Landlords don't give a fuck. You might have to take court . Get renters insurance and bonfire the place

The place looked okay from the outside and the apartment I'm in isn't so bad on its own. It's mainly the other tenants I'm concerned about. Is there a way to get my money back since the landlord lied about this place being suitable for a toddler? Do I have a legal leg to stand on at all?

Also I'm showing the place to another person today and the shared bathroom has a clogged sink and the bongo artist refuses to do her laundry. I also have no cleaning supplies. I just want to get this over with.

cameras can be so tiny these days, the lens as small as a needle.
