travel is stupid expensive right now. there's some tricks though, google, oddly is better than most travel sites as far as ticket prices and often has options for decreasing price that sites like travelocity don't have. I've done it before it's not the most pleasant way to travel but flying in general is a pain in the ass lateyl. your other option is to get an in with someone in the industry that can give you their travel discounts. they put you on a list and you fly for what they fly for. but they can only put a few people on that list.

it used to be you could get ridiculously cheap tickets if you traveled standby, meaning you just wait on whatever seats they don't fill. but within the last couple years terrorism meant you can't do that anymore and airlines got really shady with how they fill seats so they can charge more and more.

I'm sorry travel is so pricey. I'd be giving away the family discount I get if I could.
