Hello!
I'm 28 years old and I truly hate my life.
It's 3 years since my graduation date. I finished civil engineering and it's my job since then. At first I liked it, but as time passess by I hated it more and more. I hate working for 12-14 hours a day and getting paid little money for only 8 (its pretty common in construction industry in my country). For over 2 years my life was like this: work - sleep - work - sleep. On weekends instead of hanging out with friends I had dentists, laundry and other stuff I had no time coz of my work hours.
I had problems getting asleep, which eventually made me hooked to weed. I smoke too much, but it's the only thing that releases stress and makes me sleep easy.
Recently I met a girl, but when we meet I go to sleep after 1 hour, coz Im too tired. Every time I go to work I hope that I will break my leg so I can rest and have any time for myself.
My problem is that I think it's too late for me to find new industry I can work for. Everywhere I'll go I'd be totally new, not knowing shit. All I think about is finding new job, but how and where? I got no otger education than this... I feel miserable as fuck. Im not suicidal, but I got no motivation, no will, no happiness in my life.
I always try to look happy. I think people dont need to know bout my problems, not even my closest friends. I try to look happy and cheerful, but every day I'm more lonely, more sad. What should I do?

In my country this is called over time and it sort of illegal. I think for you it is better to stand for yourself and end this bullshit. And when your shifts are 12 hours, you can have only 3 consecutive and then you have to have 1 days free to compensate. But that is just me youropoor in 1st world.
Consider to look for another job. I am surprised you didnt try to earlier. Fuck even cashier at shop dont do overtimes like that.

Drop that bullshit. Your inability to sleep is from stress. Realize that no shit job is worth the stress and simply ignore it. What would happen if you went home after 8 hours of job?
Find new job or stand for yourself. You are almost definition of

It is time for you to do something. Confort your boss.
And go to doctor with your sleep. If your job isnt physicaly demanding, force some sport into your daily routine. Walking to home by foot? It should help you with sleep. But that will work after you break the weed addiction. And it can take a while.
Date the bitch on weekends or just ask her to come home to you because you are tired from work. She can sleep there.
What ever you do, PUSH your luck and change something. Dont be zombie.

Well. In my country (Poland) it's normal in my work field that employees do not pay for overtime and it's simply that you either accept it or look for work in another field. It's not legal, but generally accepted (Eastern Europe, yay!).
Maybe my job is not literally physically demanding but I'm walking 10-15 kms a day on site so I move quite a lot and I lose a lot of weight coz I barely eat.
I was looking for other job, office mostly. The problem is they require to know German, in which I'm terrible. Now I'm trying in HSE, but market in Poland is full of hse specialists with more experience.
My girl is coming over all the time. When I finish work at 9pm, and gotta wake up at 5am I got no time to date in the city.
About my boss. When I told him bout my work hours and siutuation when I lost my tooth on site and had no time to visit dentist, his answer was just laugh and nothing else. I am kind of person that can take a lot, but when it's too much I simply explode. I'm not sure if it will be good, since my boss is quite infliential person in engineering in my area.
Problem with me is also that I'm scared to disappoint my closest people. I know that my family is rooting for my engineering career and I got no heart to tell them that I never wanna do it again.

I think it is time for you to make trade union. Seriously. Talk to other coworkers and ask them how they like to work unpaid for 4hours after their normal shift.
Make a strike / wallout. I am czechia and lately, we have strikers of nurses, doctors, drivers. And guess what, it works. Our unemployements rates are 0. Everybody have job, firms have troubles finding people.
Make a strike. Demand time clock to evidence every minute and to pay it all. Call to tv. Make a scene about living as slave working 12 hours and got paid only 8. That is 34% of your time stolen.
I know you will ignore me, because it is hard to take fate in your own hands, but your boss is asshole and basically they lower your wage even more by this.
You have nothing to lose even if they fire you. You can just emigrate to czechia and get job as anything here really. Break your misery mentality and fucking do something.
Or just tell your boss to fuck off, and one minute after 8 hours say fuck it, stop working and go home. If you have some responsibilities, tell workers to stop working because the time is over and you go home and they should too.
Even fucking cashiers at shop dont do overtime like this. Look for new job. Call TV, make scene, record your boss on phone and poat the shit on youtube. Do something.

From my experience. It will end up with control, they will pay lok 5k Euros, be good for 2 months and after this ecerything will be back to normal.
Such things are commonly accepted in Poland. There's little I can do, even together with my coworkers.

I think you need a holiday bro.
Get a week or two off work and just do nothing, go to town once in a while and rest.
You might find that you feel differently about work afterwards, or that the time to reflect gives you an idea of where to go next in life.

its never too late to learn something new, you can learn another language and migrate where your job will be properly appreciated
