is correcting someone immediately after they got your name wrong rude or autistic?
i remember doing it once and that i couldn't tell how he or they people around reacted to it, and now i think i made a social mistake and feel anxious about it.
No, not at all. It avoids the awkwardness of them finding out at a later point that they got it wrong, and it's important. If they are going to personally address you they might as well do it right.
Just correct them right away when they say it, in a neutral tone of voice.
Do it with a smile and make just laugh about it. Brush it off like it's nothing. Everybody makes mistakes.
Would you rather they went on calling you by the wrong name?
I'd actually be relieved when someone corrects me. Erases the opportunity to look like an idiot later on.
