>broke up with ex bf 18 months ago
>very, very messy
>own property together
>we both meet new people, but keep each other updated on financial matters regarding the house
>wanting to cut ties for good now, so we can both move on
>text him asking for an update - no response
>email asking for an update - no response
So what do I do? It's literally only a matter of signing documents and remortgaging, as I'm not bothered about gaining financially from this. My options are:
>serious letter threatening further action if no response is received
>speak to his parents who I still have on social media
>get the big guns involved (lawyer) which will cost me money even though I don't want money from the house
What action would you threaten in your serious letter that wouldn't involve getting a lawyer?
Ask his parents what's up first, and if you still can't get in touch get a lawyer.
Or ,if you don't care about the money, just don't bother.

I can't just not bother because my name is on another mortgage, meaning I cannot buy another property.
I thought maybe a letter might show my intention before paying a lawyer to send the same letter on my behalf. The parents thing is probably the best way forward but it just seems so awkward. We've always been great at keeping things business and updating each other so I'm a bit concerned that he isn't responding to my requests at all.

lawyer up OP and do it quick. He may have already fucked you over

Sure, but so would getting in contact with his parents which will also get you some information quicker, considering he's ignoring you.

He can't really fuck me over as I'm not looking for anything, hence why I've been pretty chill about things so far. I thought maybe as he was in a new relationship, he might not want the pressure of deciding what to do with a house. Appreciate the advice though.
