Ever hear of autotrader? It's a good site to find used vehicles. It's got a great filter function to narrow down the most suitable vehicles. Look for a car with around or less than 100k miles on it. That's the best you'll be able to do with a couple grand. Hit up >>>/o/ for specialised advice on which models are best to look for.

You maybe could finance a decent car. Some places don't require proof of income. The loan idea may be better though because the interest rate might be lower, and owning a used car will make your insurance payments significantly less than leasing or financing.
