I didn't get into the program I wanted at UW. Sucks, but I need to move on. I did get into their international studies, but can you do anything with something like Asian Studies? Engrish teacher or some government work such as at an embassy?

yes OP. something like the above.
but just make sure you learn a lingo, (Japanese or Chinese) so at least you get some sort of skills out of the thing.
business, diplomacy, teaching, journalism, etc.
degrees aren't all that important once you have some common sense, direction and experience

Diplomacy could be cool, but from what I gather, FSOs move around a lot. So I could take Japanese in college, but end up in some other random country.

and the problem being?
there are many options.
UW grad who took several Jackson school courses here. The classes are interesting, just be forewarned that "Asian Studies" is a meme full of Chinese international students who use it for easy grades and isn't looked on that highly.
You don't need any particular degree for teaching engrish abroad.

Just seems odd to me that you focus and learn about an area intensively in college, only to barely see that country (if at all).
Those dicks at UW. They deny local students in favor of international money.
I don't understand the concept of
>I was accepted into school but I'm not allowed to study the thing I wanted

Some specific programs have higher requirements than the school itself.

Not him but this is the way it exclusively works in Ireland. Why should there be the same entry requirements for English Literature and Chemical Engineering when one is much more difficult and in higher demand?
