This is probably a bait thread (so much better than the cry thread) but honestly the hard drive is very likely a lot less fucked up than I've done in drunken software accidents. The worst part is the keyboard; if there's the slightest trace of truth to this story then don't give that thing back to somebody else. Buy them a new laptop of superior specs and copy the data over.
