How much does the prestige of your college matter when getting into graduate school for the humanities? I got into my reach, which was a top 15 research university, but my family can't afford it. Instead, I'm going to a local top 50 research university.
What can I do to make myself stand out to top grad schools?

Don't go for fucking humanities, for starters. Other than that, I suggest you actually show that you are a diverse and well-rounded human being by traveling, doing some volunteer work, showing you have varied extracurricular interests, and otherwise can be a self-motivated individual by starting your own small business.
