That's a difficult question. It depends on what you personally find most difficult to deal with. If you're a reserved and standoffish person, being an attractive woman is shitty because people hover around you, try to touch you, comment on you(r looks, clothes, attitude), expect a much higher level of friendliness before experiencing you as nice... but not everyone minds this equally and it comes with upsides as well, like more trust from strangers and more small favors.

There's obviously the factor of safety, but it entirely depends on where you live and how fearful you are whether this plays a significant role in your day to day life.

For me personally, I think men being seen as more default/neutral than women is ultimately the most difficult. There are many more instances where people try to relate something you do (or have accomplished, or like, anything really) to your womanhood. Whereas obviously being that person you feel like it has to do with who you are as an individual and not that you happen to be female, like half the population.

I don't, for the reasons you mentioned. I love to flirt and feel that tension, I love the idea of it, but then I remember in real life it's going to play out much more awkwardly, he will want to do shit I find off putting, he won't do things I would enjoy, it would feel weird and off and so on.

Being tall is a pretty strong and universal expectation for a man. Not meeting it sucks. But there's plenty of people who manage to live a good life despite not fitting the conventional ideas of being an attractive or successful person. And you're not even necessarily at that stage for not being tall.

The stuff that is most attractive to woman (being at ease with yourself, confidence, knowing what you want) is also stuff that will help you find friends, get a job and so on. It's not like trying to be attractive to women in general (not talking about working to actually meet them or flirt with them) requires a wholly different set of skills or traits than the rest of the world for being taken with you.
So yes, there's a point in trying to come to terms with who you are and aren't, and continuing to develop yourself.

I was pretty clueless growing up and didn't really believe myself to be any sort of attractive.

I would do mental gymnastics every time I'd come across a situation to wrap it in to something that fit my worldview.

I think the hardest aspect for me is a general lack of respect.
People tend to respect your boundaries less if you are a girl. They might be small things, but being touched by strangers, receiving sexual comments, or being told to "smile more" when it's fucking 8 AM and I'm heading to school is unpleasant.
A lot of people (and a lot of women too) treat me as if I were my boyfriend's propriety which I find really awful. Stuff like: "did your boyfriend let you go out with (a male friend) alone?" or "did your boyfriend let you go to a party dressed like that?".
Another thing that in my opinion is really disrespectful is "for a woman" comments. I detest genuinely and feel deeply disrespected as a person when I get "you're really smart for a girl", "you have weird interests/hobbies/sense of humour for a woman" or "it must be hard to work in your field for a woman". I feel like they assume I am less or I should be in a certain way just because I have a vagina.

I'm in a shit situation. Girl I've been in love with for several months and I had a thing going.
