18 year old here with slightly receded temples. My doctor recently prescribed me generic Finasteride (1mg daily). Does it matter if it's generic? I got it from Fry's, and it just says "Finasteride." No mention of Propecia or Proscar. Also, since I'm only 18, can I expect to see regrowth near the temples? Anyone here who takes Finasteride, I'd like to know how your experience has been
I can only speak regarding the generic. Truth of the matter is generic brands work in the exact same way as name brands, it's only difference is the additives and maybe shape. Big Pharma is dumb like that.

Thanks, but.. why do pharmaceuticals do that?
18 y.o also taking finasteride. I am also receding at my temples. Have been taking propecia for about 6 or 7 months. I'd say the hairloss has been slowed down but not sure it has completely stopped. New hair hasn't appeared at the temples. I feel like my hair is thicker overall. Generics work just like the original, it's just that the patent expired and now other companies are able to produce it. Hair regrowth near the temples is extremelly unlikely not to say impossible.

OP here. Before you started taking finasteride, how bad was your hair loss/line?
I started fin just a few days ago, and I probably am at a Norwood 1-1.5. I noticed excessive shedding a year ago, and saw hair on the pillows, sinks, and shower. My dad is in his 40s, and he's in denial. He's easily a norwood 2 or 3, and always wears a hat even though he says his hair is fine.
Fuck, man. This is a curse. I'm just glad I was able to start finasteride before it got even worse.

Because of how patents work. And people are skeptical of generics because "But i have heard of [brand name] before so this other stuff must be hogwash!"
