I recently bombed an exam in a class I need a B in. To get back

Meh I've been in similar situations except I needed a C and was getting a low D. The class was essential to my major but I talked to both my prof and advisor and they agreed best course was to pass me otherwise I'd just be taking up a seat (I had to demonstrate satisfactory knowledge of the subject matter). Reason my grade was so low was I never did any homework and didn't turn in a project.

How did it go with your professor, what did you say? Tomorrow I was just going to go in and say "I did extremely poor on the last exam to the point I am not sure I can still get a B in the class, is there anything I can do to increase my chances of getting a B?". What you think of this?

I just explained my situation to both (had a car accident, still worked 3 jobs to pay for school), probably was a sob story even though I hate to admit it. Why'd you bomb the exam? One of my friends was too hungover to take an exam once and his prof let him leave retake it. Maybe explain why you failed? If you bombed it and are still able to get a B in the class its kind of clear you know the material, some people just don't test well. Recommend talking to your advisor though, it's their job to see positive movement in their students and keep you on track.

Oh also, it might be good to keep in mind that he won't do anything that may be unfair to other students (extra credit, retake, etc) and in that case you may need to work with him on acing the next.

Its a hard class, at least for me, and im kinda taking full care of my disabled brother at the same time. I hate sob stories too so I dont bring it up and usually just take the grade I get but like I said I dont get a B in this class im out.

But yeah the only exam left is the final and i'd need a 96% on it to get a B, what could my adviser do for me at this point?

At the least, your advisor can listen and give you advice, refer you to study groups, maybe refer you to students that aced the class. My advisor discussed with the professor what to do with me lol. Some of my classmates had advisors make exceptions for failed classes that were prerequisites to higher courses.

he's going to yell at you if you ask him for extra credit. all of them will do this. man up and change your major. if you really love something, you would also love something else. if not, youre just trying to go with the flow of what everyone else is doing.
