Another czech here, id say go for it, but drink lightly, dont even try to get drunk, when people find out you dont drink much, they usually try to get you as much drunk as posible.
i also know a lot of people who avoided drinking before tring it, because they asociated it with clubing and stuff, but once they realized they can just have few glasses of wine in the evening or beer with the lunch, they were fine with it.
