Are there jobs like the ones in the video game 'firewatch'? I would love to live in a tower surrounded by nature with nothing to do but read a good book, listen to some good music, and just watch for forest fires. How does one get into this occupation? Does it pay, or is it merely volunteer positions?
You could work in forestry or as a ranger in a national park, maybe some kind of surveyor or geologist. But all those jobs are strenuous and you dont get to sit around fapping in nature.
Maybe if you worked at a ski resort or something.

Yeah you could be a forest ranger. But it doesn't pay super well, only like 20-30k a year if you work for the national park services.

Is it possible for anyone to become a ranger? I've only got my GED...

Google it

Any job that has you doing it well have you doing many other things.
If you really want to be a lazy, get a night security job at some place with shit important enough to protect but not important enough for anyone to want to steal.

I once had a nice cushy night watchman job lined up for a logging company. I would have gotten to sit on my ass in a heated trailer reading and playing videogames on my laptop all night. Instead the forman decided to give the job to his 16 year old daughter which I have doubts is even legal.

Why wouldn't it be legal?
