I'm taking microbiology next semester lads. Any books I can study over the summer to get ready? What can I expect from the course?

Micro is ok
Org Chem is the fucking shit show
Get read for that
Have you memorized the Krebs Cycle? Then you're ready for micro

Jesus. Whats in store for me? All STEM majors have to take Organic Chem 1+2.
Had to comment that I like confused Cure Peach

Start by looking at Khan Academy YouTube videos
They'll help teach you/familiarize you early on with big concepts that can be confusing at first

Org Chem is two things
First it's naming bullshit
Imagine a long string of molecules
Every aspect of that greater molecule has a name
So you need to memorize each part of that greater molecule. Each group of molecules has a name.
The next harder part is about spacial reasoning.
Can you play a Tetris game through a mirror while hanging from your feet?
Then you're ready.
A lot of Org Chem is that. Here's a molecule. Now what's it's enantiomer (i.e. non reversible mirror image)?

>o chem is hard :(
Lmao dude it isnt that bad. I never took biochem but I heard that was way worse.
>>18218371
>I never took biochem
>It isn't that bad
>>18218375
>O.Chem = Biochem
No wonder you had such a rough time!
>>18218380
>implying that biochem doesn't involve org
Everyone come and laugh at this retard
He thinks that you don't need Org Chem to study Biochem.
LAUGH

Anon I think your hardest subject is english. Seriously dude way to sperg out over not being able to read. Go read a book, read what I wrote, and maybe go on a walk.
"Molecular biology of the cell"
And "Biochemistry" are both good. Obviously it depends on your course which is most relevant.
