Hi /adv/,
Could you walk me through starting a job search? The career development center at my university isn't helpful, and I don't know where else to turn.
>about to graduate from university
>eventually want to become a high school biology teacher
>need money for grad school
Depends on a few things. First: do you have a CV/Resume? Any prior experience volunteering or working anywhere? Does your University have any on-campus jobs that you can apply for?
I've had good luck using Indeed or SimplyHired, but you're gonna have a trickier time of it if you don't have much experience. There should be some easy jobs around campus to do if you want to start there--some colleges only hire from within.

Yeah, I've got a resume with about 4 years of work experience and lots of teaching-related volunteer work.
How does Indeed work? I've heard of job-search websites like that and Monster, before, but I'm not familiar with how to use them effectively.
Unfortunately, I went to school about 200 miles from my house, so it's not really feasible for me to work there. I'll check with other local institutions though. I've heard they give some tuition-related perks to employees. Is there any truth to that?

That's sort of a last-resort option. I feel like I've done my fair share of entry-level-work over the last 4 years:
>bus boy in high school
>seasonal clerk at law firm throughout college
I'd be willing to do that sort of work again if it'd get me a higher position in a company later on, but if I can, I'd like to move past that sort of stuff so that I can start saving money faster.
