This. OP, let me give you a piece of advice, the person who unapologetically lives for themselves, who knows what makes them happy and goes for it, is the most hated person in the world. Bonus points if you're male.

Stop worrying about what your family thinks. Your family isn't special, they're just the assholes you were born into. The fact that some people think that being related to someone entitles them to a say in their lives makes me sick to my stomach. The fact that your family even has an opinion regarding your sexuality is pretty out of line.

Trying to make everyone like you is one of the most fruitlessly exhausting things you can do. Whenever you make a stand for something, you will make enemies. Accept this and move on. If your family is the type of heehaw trash that'll "disown" you for breaking the heteronormative mold, to hell with them, replace them with friends.
