I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that you aren't really telling the full story. What most likely happened is that after you got her number you started using it to talk with her frequently and you did it so much that it turned her off from you so she gave you that excuse because she had enough of you and wanted space.

If that's not the case though and you talked to her minimally or not at all (which is correct) then she only gave you it to have attention which you did not provide. Her awkwardly looking at you would support that too.

But either way,bottom line it's important to not care. She's just one of those girls you have to chalk up to wasting your time.
