Can autism develop or worsen over time?
I've become increasingly more spergy over the last couple years.
What would cause this?

no, you are just growing up, not reacting well to shifting social changes and now trying to blame it on a mental illness so you dont have to worry about it anymore.

No, but social anxiety can if you're not conditioning yourself to interact with people. You'll become more awkward and distant with people.

The thing is I've been socializing a lot more than I have in years.
But I feel like I'm acting spergy, like I have this weird stare, or like I'm saying things strange or not like other people.

That still sounds like a mix of social anxiety and insecurity. Even if you've been socializing more recently, you still have a long road ahead of you. It may take years of actively putting yourself out there before you stop feeling self conscious.

Bump,
I feel you OP, I actually feel the exact same way, I didn't talk until I was 2 and have always felt like I couldn't properly connect with people. I fear it's becoming worse as well (I'm 21) I find catch myself muttering shit whenever I think about stressful shit and get extreme anxiety whenever I feel stuck in a social situation (especially one where I cannot respond, like a lecture). You aren't alone in this and I hope things turn out well for you. I'll be keeping track of this thread though.
