Unless you have a professional skills and contacts working from home is pretty much nonexistent. Just think about what you have to offer that people are willing to pay for. If working from home was a viable option a lot more people would be doing it.

If you know another language and can get certified in it, there are companies that hire translators and they can be done from home with a visit to HQ every once in a while. My friend is italian and just had a baby and she does this, but we live in a large metropolitan area where its relatively common to need translators

This, but you need to be very good in both languages and most of the time you need to be specialised in one academic area (e.g. science or engineering) because most of the work you'll get may come from academia (so you translate scientific papers if you're specialised in that area). But then again maybe there's some translating gigs that don't require you to be specialised very much.

learn webdev and make websites for neighbors. eventually the word will spread and you get more loyal clients. give them 5% client referral fee as well.
