Don't look for friends. Look for things to do.Join a club, take a class, do volunteer work, hang out at the comic book store. You'll be among others doing the same thing, so chatting will be natural. That's how friendships start.

I took a beginning cooking class at a CC. We were all different and all terrible at cooking, but we laughed at each other and ourselves. Eventually some of us began going out for coffee after class.

I'm not the norm, but I'm totally cool with people randomly talking to me. Kind of weird to randomly talk to people probably though. I wish people did it more often. You should probably join clubs, take small philosophy classes at your local university, or check out meetup.com. Anyways, anyone worth being friends with wouldn't care if you've never had a friend.

This. You don't just make friends, you have to have something in common where you interact and know each other.

A healthy dose of empathy directed at most people gets a positive response. Being a selfish sarcastic cunt is enough to drive most people away.

If you want a friend you need to be ready to be a friend. Ready to be invested in another person life.

I had a problem with this but I'm slowly learning. Be helpful to a stranger in need, even if he's a selfish cunt himself, he'll entertain you on the basis of receiving help.
