I have a problem.

I've been dating this girl for about 6 months now. She's really sweet, and cute, and intelligent, and we have a great time together, and I'm really starting to care about her a lot. The problem is, she bites. Literally bites. My understanding is somewhat limited, but from what she explained, it's a condition kind of similar to Tourette's syndrome, where it's a tick that she can't control.

She's on medication and usually is able to control herself fairly well, but if she gets stressed or excited, there can be "incidents". This is a big problem during sex, obviously blowjobs are right out (which is a shame, because they're my favorite), but even just during regular sex, I have been injured. It isn't just people either, she compulsively bites things. She has damaged some of my property, and has also in the past damaged her teeth on multiple occasions.

I really like this girl, she's amazing, but this is a big problem. She's bitten me hard enough to break skin, she's hurt herself biting furniture or things made of metal and whatnot, I really don't know what to do here. I don't know if I'll be able to do this forever, but I don't want to hurt her and I don't want to be without her.

this is really weird. Are you sure she's not just a crazy person? Like, I have a psych degree and this is the first time I've really heard of a compulsive biter (that wasn't like, a dog)

Yeah, I don't know, I'm going by what she told me. She doesn't seem crazy, and there are plenty of people who have compulsions of all sorts, some of which are dangerous or self destructive, so it seems plausible enough to me.

Could work, I guess. I could ask about it. Only really solves the problem during sex, though. Can't really have her walking around all the time with one of those. I'm just kind of afraid of some sort of incident happening, like maybe she gets pulled over or something, is feeling stressed, and bites the cop. I dunno, I'm scared something like that could happen.
