What's a job where I can help people that doesn't require a degree? I'm talking about stuff like working at an old folks home. I don't even know where to start.

Good pay would be nice but I know I'm not really spoiled for choice here, amazingly.

Elderly Care probably doesn't pay much.
Maybe public service like EMT or policeman?
>>
>>18121261
Don't both of those require a degree? EMT at least has got to. I'm not sure I'm fit enough to be a cop; not sure I want to be one, either.
>>
you can work at an old folks home, but it'd be horrible.
>>
If you want to work in elder care, could always work as an activities assistant. You just facilitate leisure programs for the elderly. The pay isn't great usually in 10-12 dollar range. If that isn't enough, you can get your activities certification, its called mepap. You can do it online its two parts costs 1000 total. As a director you make a salary typically, still not great pay, but usually 30-35 k, so not horrible.
>>
Oh and side note the mepap is an at your own pace program can get done very quickly, I got it done in 3 months. Also it is ridiculously easy to pass.

EMT has like a 3 month training class.
>>
EMT is just a certification, not college degree.

Same for police, there is "police academy" and I don't know exactly what that consists of but it can't be that hard, from all the fatass and stupid cops I've seen. Also I'm pretty sure they pay for it.

If you just want to help people and don't care much for the pay, you can look for volunteer work or community service. If you get involved in that, you can ask other people in those areas about getting a real career doing something like that.

What kind of help do you want to do? Work fast food and "help" people get their food. Work as janitor and help people have clean areas. Every job helps people at some level, and the ones without degrees usually are the most tangible direct helping jobs.
>>

I don't really want to "help" people where my job is actually to just "help" make a big fat cat money. I know that eliminates just about every job on the planet right now but I can't feel good about a job that's going to get automated within 10 years anyway. I want a real job where I can put my people skills and empathy to use. I get what you mean, but it's not what I meant.

Yeah frankly I just want enough money to make rent at a shitstain apartment. I can't believe that's the American dream now but here we are. Money is nice but I don't care that much about it.

This is kind of interesting, maybe I'll look into this. Thanks anon.
