Starting and finishing uni late, how disadvantaged is this? I'll

You're not starting late so none of this is a problem.

My classmates are literally finishing the year I start, I am a little late to say the least.

I didn't finish until 26. Got a decent job just before graduating and three years later my career is going well.

desu going to uni later was the best choice I ever made. I didn't socialise much when in uni since I already had a circle of friends from outside but that let me concentrate more on studies.

I honestly don't think you can start uni too late can you?

I keep hearing it's a negative but never seen any actual evidence it's a barrier. The average person changes career like 10-12 times, I can't imagine them doing that at 18-25.

You certainly can in terms of making friends and socializing.

If you go back to school in your 30s or something, don't expect the 18 year old freshmen in your classes to want to invite you to their parties or anything. You'd be there just to get your degree.
Otherwise you're right, you can always go back and get an education to better your financial life any time.

OP is fine though, it's only when you get into like, going back at 25+ that socialization and relating to your peers becomes complicated. Because you are so much older than everyone in your classes.

I have a background in construction and am emphasizing leadership and management skills

It depends on the kind of person you are but I already have 1 year of leadership experience in a NASA competition with a team which I owe to my background in a gruff career field

I'm 22 and starting a CS degree in the fall. Just took me awhile to experience things and realise I wanted to go to school. Don't feel bad or awkward about things. The best thing you can do is be confident and self assured and everything else will fall into place.

I started my first semester last fall, and I'm 23. Literally no problems and most people assume I'm their age anyway.
The only thing preventing me from making friends is my lack of social ability.
