how do i get over this and study without being anxious all the time
Think of it as highschool that's trying to look more tough for no other reason than to make you it's bitch. You gonna be a bitch?

Thank you
do you have any clue what the cause for the fear could be, or rather, what you are afraid of? Real tangible things at university? Exam pressure? Social situations? Lectures? Feeling other people's looks in your neck? The feeling where you have to watch your step all the time in order to not end up in an embarrassing situation that will make others look weirdly at you?
The feeling when you don't know if this is really what you want, or when you don't feel like you're really learning anything, or at least nothing that could be of use to anyone? The feeling when you don't really know whether you're studying hard enough, whether you will be able to write a good exam?
Or is it a fear of the unknown? the lack of knowledge about what is coming?

I really doubt that.

Yeah all of that
I got on IRC and talked to the PhD students. They were pushy about studying for 100%, but didn't for a second think I would fail first year. I see their point now, I didn't come anywhere close to failing.
I did see someone fail once... but they were stupid and though that the half-term breaks were real breaks and didn't study during them, the exams were a few days afterwards.
