I've been depressed my whole life and late into my teen years I've started experiencing strong anxiety and fucked up my sleeping routine.
I'm an actor without money, 20 years old, living with parents. Right now I got super lucky and got a big part in a play, they'll even pay me, but I'm so anxious about it that I have panic attacks before reading the script, and have to memorize 200 lines in 2 days.
If I fuck up now I might need years and years of scouting to get someone else to hire me because this is my only contact here.
How do I get my shit together in time for the first rehearsal?

Damn, good timing on this post anon, I've recently been getting help for panic attacks/anxiety/sleeping routine myself. I know how it feels, and it sucks the life out of you, but you gotta keep pushing forward. Sit your ass down, memorize your lines, and look forward to a fat wad of cash once you're done. Don't give up an opportunity as good as yours for some temporary security which will only make you feel worse, and in the end, dig yourself a deeper hole into depression and anxiety that'll be even harder to get out of.

I'd recommend seeing a doctor ASAP as well. I know you probably won't be able to get one in two days, but once you're done your script, it's the best thing I can suggest for you. Tell them EVERYTHING; your depression, anxiety, panic attacks, etc. It's their job to help people anon, even if you feel a little weird explaining it, they've inevitably heard stranger cases. If what they give you works, great; if it doesn't, then try something else. I'm on my 4th prescribed medication and only now did I find something that actually helped. I know it's rough now anon, but I'll be rooting for you. Never give up, no matter how tough it might seem now.

I already have the number of a specialist, thing is panic attacks prevent him from calling her.
It's kind of stupid that I have to solve the problem of anxiety and starting activities in order to see a medi that will help me with that problem.

aye you in the LA area?

Just remember that your priority is the script you're supposed to memorize, everything else besides that comes second. Afterwards you can worry about getting the courage to actually get help, but for now all you can do is look forward to the money potential. It sucks, yeah, but you've gotta work with what you've got.

doctors prescribe a few things for this

first line
antihistamines. you can buy these at the pharmacy without a prescription

second line (sort of different dealio as well)
highly addictive benzodiazapines. they kick anxiety in the ass.

third line, hypnotics
I actually don't know much about hypnotics since they never had to use them on me, but I remember they worked when I was out of benzodiazapines and addicted to them

>What about not using drugs?
The behavioral methods are all common fucking sense. We just stop doing them under pressure because we're "decompensating." What you gotta do is pull it together, lad. Sometimes a hug from someone who is important, or bustin a good nut in a big phat ass from behind, can give you the solace required to get some sleep. I used to share my bed with a beagle, and he curled up like a little potsticker, which always made me feel better.

>third line, hypnotics
let me clarify that lazy gibberish for you

I've never been on a course of hypnotics, but I took a hypnotic when I was withdrawing form benzos and sleep deprived. It worked.

>antihistamines

Not OP but do these actually help you feel less anxious or are you bullshitting me? I do remember before I was on actual meds taking some when I was really sick and I ended up feeling pretty relaxed and calm, but I thought that was because of something unrelated.

I was prescribed with medications once, side effects were devastating. I had amnesia, forgot two entire months, and this was in my last year of high school when I had to prepare for the final exam, or else I'd be stuck in said school if I failed it (works like this in my country).
I also kind of black out sometimes because I suffered a concussion after a car accident. I'm trying to memorize lines here, can't risk using drugs.
>>
>>18096288
they reduce allergic responses, slow your physiological functioning, and reduce neurotransmission

so yeah

but they're a pretty shitty feel. I think taking too many or too strong an antihistamine can actually cause despair.

that being said they're used for

>anxiety
>insomnia
and
>allergies
>>
>>18096295
I took Tylenol once. My dick turned backwards. I forgot my middle name. My kidneys tried to make a run for it, but the doctor stuffed them back in.

anyway behavioral solutions are *so much better* than meds anyway
>>
>>18096295
What did you even get prescribed with that would give you all those side effects?
>>
>>18096305
I don't remember everything they gave me because of obvious reasons, but mainly it was Xanax. I think the worst it got was 60 drops every day because that shit is addictive and ineffective.
