I posted this on /an but I'm not getting any replies and I could realy use some advice on this if anyone has any.
I found a baby squirrel about 3 weeks old and I've bee having troubles with him aspirating the formula.I always make sure to hold him upsidedown to get the fluid out and i haven't had a problem with that. I've had him for about a week now and as of today I can here some clicking coming from him. Hes never made those sounds before but I've read not to jump the gun and to watch and see if it persist into tomorrow.
My question is, if it turns out to be pneumonia, what kind of medicine can I give him?
Unfortunately its illegal here to take care of orphaned squirrels and i would be afraid of what might happen if I take him to a vet. I will if absolutely necessary but if there's somthing I can do myself,id like to.
Any advice would be appreciated

Take him to a vet. Nothing wrong with leaving him in tge car and asking the vet ahead of time. Trial balloon. If the vet is an ass, leave.

Where can I get some?

Ya, I might end up doing that if it persists and I can't find any medicine

Got a pawn shop around?
Ask for the saturday night special, smallest and cheapest. Mention you really just need a single dose, they should hook you up.

Well if you think its pneumonia you probably only have a couple days. I bet the vet wont even charge you. Most are in it because they truly love animals.

Ya, the clicking stopped and I got a new syringe. He didn't aspirate this time. So I think be should be ok. I mostly just asked because, if it did turn out to be pneumonia, I need to know the name of a medicine I can use. Since no other site I've looked at will actually give me a name . gotta be extra prepared for the little ones.
