Sup /adv/, I have a few questions for you, and they're not to be patronising or anything, they're sincere questions. I'd really appreciate it if some of you would take the time to respond.
1) Do you have friends?
2) If so, how many of your acquaintances do you consider friends?
3) What distinguishes them to you?
4) Would you tell something personal and significant to you to your friend? If so, what would you be looking for? (Validation? Empathy? Bonding?)
5) What stops you telling these things to people you have a brief encounter with?
This isn't for a study or anything, it's just for my curiosity.

>1) Do you have friends?
i guess but i never see them because they live way too far away. realistically no
>2) If so, how many of your acquaintances do you consider friends?
none
>3) What distinguishes them to you?
mostly it happens by chance and proximity, we work together, went to school together, played a sport or something together
>4) Would you tell something personal and significant to you to your friend? If so, what would you be looking for? (Validation? Empathy? Bonding?)
depends on what it is, there are some things i dont tell anyone. i could be looking for all of the above, maybe advice or just to vent
>5) What stops you telling these things to people you have a brief encounter with?
dont know them well enough to trust them
>1) Do you have friends?
Yep
>2) If so, how many of your acquaintances do you consider friends?
Maybe 10-12 people? Of varying degrees of closeness
>3) What distinguishes them to you?
I don't quite understand what you mean. If you're asking why I'm friends with them, it's because we get along well, and have similar interests or views
>4) Would you tell something personal and significant to you to your friend?
Depends on the friend and the problem
>If so, what would you be looking for? (Validation? Empathy? Bonding?)
Depends on what it is. If it's a problem, it'd be for advice. If it's something negative going on in my life, it'd be so that they're aware of what's happening, and also to see if they can cheer me up. I'm also a believer in 'a problem shared is a problem halved'
>5) What stops you telling these things to people you have a brief encounter with?
Because why should they give a shit? Plus if it's personal, it's not something I want the world knowing.
