I want to be a musician. I don't think college is something I need for this.
I just want to follow a band around and learn the basics and sharpen my own skills. Where do I go to to just shadow around like this?
I know I'm taking a risk, but I'm willing to take it
Small bump
most good musicians meet/form bands in college
college towns/cities usually have local bands playing shows all the time
even if you're not going to college, chances are you'll want to hang around/form a band with people your own age, who will probably be in college (assuming you're that age)

What you're talking about doesn't really exist like it did in the 70s. I would say hang out at places where bands play like a bar or venue and try and make friends with musicians. You really gotta know somebody to get on a crew.

They won't think I'm autistic? I mean really what am I going to say that I want to just follow them around all day and try to play guitar for them?

go to /fa/ to pick out a wardrobe to wear to work or school and see how that works out for you.

If you really really want to be a "professional" musician then you're going to need training in what ever your instrument is. If it's guitar you're looking to play good luck with that they're a dime a dozen in the real music world. It's very cut throat in orchestras too. If you don't meet the quota enjoy getting fired. It's a hard truth that you're gonna learn fast when you're hungry.
