My mom is dead and my dad never gave a fuck. After my mom died there was a time when he wanted to start being a part of my life, but I've tried getting in contact with him lately, but nothing. It sucks, because it seems like getting an ID is less of a struggle in that state.

I have called the office though, and I got told they didn't know how to help & they've never heard of my situation. I'm living in a new town though that's much larger, so I'll try giving it another shot. Thanks.

you are supposed to be able to get a state-issued ID. You will have to walk into an official federal building somewhere in a larger city, you'll have to get a ride somehow. but that is the very first step as far as I know.

So, do some talking to people and asking around. Most people will not know. My main recommendation is to talk to a professional like a police officer most likely, secondarily a firefighter, go down the list of professionals and they will help you with the info. It is actually illegal to not have photo ID on you and be 18. So yeah all you need to do is find the right info, walk into the right building hopefully which was recommended to you by someone who knows their stuff, and they will take a picture of you and make a laminated state photo ID for you. that's how it should work in all states. I know that for my friend he got a non-driverlicense photo ID for solely identification purposes.

if you don't have the cash for the fee to make a laminated photo ID, the fee is usually like $15 or something, you should go to the public library and get on the computer and look at labor gigs on craigslist or something and earn some quick cash that way, or just literally ask around town like restaurants can I wash your dishes or mop your floor for cash? you should be able to find a temoprary under the table cash job
