Food is supposed to be fuel, right? Then why does eating immediately put me to sleep?

It's frustrating. Going to lunch or dinner with someone either means a long nap or a bunch of coffee to keep going. I generally only eat right before bed.

Eat right all day. Resting after a meal aids digestion.

Have you tried not eating, retard?

Eat things with a low glycemic index, and eat in smaller quantities.

Stop eating dicks.

Haha, but kidding aside, work out an hour after eating a meal with healthy carbs. Like eat a big bean and cheese burrito rest a bit and digest, then run 5 miles. Eat carbs earlier in the day and work out early after fueled up.

meals take up to 48 hours to digest, so assuming eating means immediate energy is silly.

we tend to be tired after a meal because relaxing after food aids digestion. even in the wild it was generally eat, rest, then back to work.

that being said eating smaller snacks is better, or smaller meals in general. large meals are generally what knock you out.

This happens to me when I eat too much food or eat greasy, high fat food.

As far as proof that it is energy, I have found that eating lean protein, right amount of carb, and low fat meals a day before I do cardio gives me way more energy to work out. If I ate like shit the day before and attempt to work out, I am really sluggish.

I've been told that the ideal way to "carb out" for energy is to do it a day or two before you intend to use lots of energy.

Our bodies starts to digest food almost as soon as we eat it. Depending on if it's a protein, carb, or fat will determine how long it takes to digest but for the most part the digestion process starts within 30-60 minutes. Complex carbs take longer to digest, and are ideal for your bodies energy source, whereas simple carbs are digested pretty quickly and turned into energy within the hour. Your fiber intake will also aid in the speed of the digestion process. I could go on but basically you're just wrong.
