Is it normal to believe that because of the amount of bad things that keep consistently happening to you over a period of decades, that you're doing something to deserve it (without realising what)?

Maybe.
Only you can answer this by observing and reflecting on your thoughts and actions.

When it happened in consistent pace, time to stop and figure out what's wrong within ourselves. Perhaps it's just a matter of perspective, or maybe just a typical case of you reap what you sow, either way it's a good time to stop and reflect.
You always have responsibility to deal with the part of reality that present itself to you. Whether obstacles are your fault is found either in self-reflection, or presenting your perspective to other people.

depends on what you consider bad things
>>18083245
depends. you cannot control the universe no matter how good you are. you could be so good and so isolated and then boom, an earthquake comes and takes everything.
you can be good and mildly social and bam some guy walking down the street decides to mug you.
you didn't do anything to deserve those and sometimes what happens to you is just a side effect of living in the world.
but sometimes you do bad things and they come back to bite you in the ass, consequences.
that doesn't make you an awful person, because everyones flawed. it just means you should reflect.

yes, its normal to believe that.
it doesn't make it any more true, but yes, many people will feel that way.
