Is an Xbox gift card and a card a decent gift for my former roommate and close friend? He bought me a 3DS game for mine.
I don't know what else he really does these days besides hang out at home and play video games, and I don't know what games he owns.

Sorry, I meant to say for his birthday. He's 31. Should I be more thoughtful? I've known him for 13 years.

Depends on how much feddy you got.
Maybe you know he's lacking in some department.
Maybe a custom Scuff, or an Elite controller.
Maybe a new headset
Maybe a season pass for a game he's into.
Maybe a gift card just because you don't know jack shit
Maybe order a pizza paid in full delivered to his pad on some night off he's been looking forward to enjoying indoors.

For what it's worth, I'm going to dinner tonight with him and I totally forgot it was his birthday. So it's hard for me to go out and get him stuff. Plus he doesn't live with me anymore, so I don't know what he has. He tends to buy a bunch of gaming shit though, so I'd probably be duplicating it if I just went to Target on the way to dinner.
