Do most depressed people know they're depressed? If I keep telling my doctor my life is becoming a living hell because I struggle to stay awake twenty four seven and I'm losing all my cognitive ability, is she right in automatically saying depression? I'm pretty motivated to be that physically depressed, and my eyes and voice constantly give off physical sleepiness.

How long have you felt this way? Usually depression results in a complete loss of motivation.
You almost certainly have sleep apnea.

I've struggled with depression for almost a decade now. It's not just sadness, it feels like every emotion is dulled and things that used to bring you joy just become too exhausting and are no longer rewarding. I sleep all day and barely eat and want to die. I wouldn't wish this upon anyone, it's fucking awful.
Trust me, you'll know if you're depressed.
