Any /adv/ice to deal with depression? This week has been especially trying -- unwanted revelations deciding to come to light during one of my more demanding weeks, only adding onto my stress and furthering my depression. I want to take time off from uni, but my parents are so uptight about status and school (maybe because they came from the typical "from rags" Mexican family) that they'll cut me off if I even take a single day for myself. I can't even focus on my assignments because my head is just filled with conflicting thoughts and emotions.
Find someone you trust to talk about it. Even on the Internet
Otherwise start a journal and try to put everything you're feeling into words. It's normal to feel like that don't be rough on yourself. Tell your parents about it but phrase it so it doesn't sound like you want to skip school cause you feel tired. Tell them something along the lines "I could really use your support right now, I'm feeling overwhelmed". Naturally they'll ask whats and whys but just tell them you don't want to answer a questionnaire, you just want them to be more supportive of your struggle. Don't try to "tough it out" because you're afraid of how they might react. You can and should be vulnerable with your parents but you just gotta phrase it so you don't come off as whining. I know parents from poor backgrounds can't understand how their kids can feel miserable when they provide so much for them because nobody provided for them.

This magic drug cured my depression of 8 years. Now I'm married with a son.
I'm not saying this is what you should do, but doing about 120-180 mg of dxm once a month did wonders for my state of mind. For me, dxm helped me get more spiritual and appreciative of life, helped me feel more physically connected to the rest of life. It helped me realize that I want to spend my life meeting different plants and animals, getting to know the various creatures of the world

This. Talking about what's going on in your head with people you trust is the best thing right now. And remember Anon, your health and well being come before any status or discomfort from your parents.
