How do I improve on drums. My arms get tired when trying to play 8th notes and anything quicker on the hi hat. I don't know any rudiments I've been playing for 5 years and feel like I am the same.

Use minimal movements. You should be focusing movement in your wrists and not your arms.
I haven't played in like a fe5cade though so I've forgotten a lot. I was alright though.
Play for as long as possible, until your arms are literally rubber bands.
Do this at least 5 times a week. Add 3-5 minutes on to every session until you can play for an hour nonstop.
Endurance training OP, get with it.

When you say using the wrist you mean to move the wrist up and down instead of at the elbow which is causing it to tense up? Would learn rudiments help me play faster and more consistent

Just practice hitting the snare keeping your arms and shoulder still. You should see what I mean by doing that.

That's cause you're using them. It should be 90% in the wrists. Do some serious endurance training while you work on your technique.

It's like you're starting to answer your own question.

Yeah I'm getting a book on it tomorrow. I am just used to using my whole arm when I play.

That's cool, and yeah you'll use your arms to some capacity but when you start nailing the basics with your wrists you'll start to notice more endurance in your playing.
