Will using floppy disks instead of USB at my college look retarded? I have an external floppy disk reader I carry around. The reason I use floppys is because I don't want to get a virus on the desktops in the computer lab at school and transmit them to my mom's iMac when I get home. I had an HP laptop but it ended up at the bottom of a swimming pool because my brother is a dick. So I have to use other people's computers until I get paid next month.

How does using a floppy disk protect you from getting a virus? It doesn't, but I'm interested in hearing your reasoning.
Is this a post from 2004 that resurfaced because of some database bug?

I have a question unrelated to this thread. I recently went to get my stomach probed for an ulcer and while that went well I realized that upon waking up and going back out my phone died. It was a lumia 530 that now turns off after booting and freezes constantly. Is it possible the RF radiation or something fried the phone's motherboard? It was in my pocket the whole time.

Lies. They only use a controlled radiation "source." You probably just need to fac reset.

the only thing floppys will protect you from is being approached by girls
you'll look like a cyberpunk tho so def worth it

There is functionally no difference between a floppy disk and modern flash drives.
The only difference is capacity. As such the chances if you contracting viruses are the same.

I think floppy disks are firmly steampunk at this point.

No their retro tech. Lazer disc is steampunk.

Holy fuck. Anon. Let me get my biege tower packing a pentium 3 CPU, Voodoo graphics card, and 512mb RAM. Maybe we can finally run Tribes 2.
I took a floppy drive apart the other week and found one of these things inside. Pretty cool looking if you ask me.
I suggest dismantling your external floppy reader and seeing if you can find one of these inside and just using flashdrives.
